President's MessageWelcome Gordon Gilkes, new President DSACongratulations to our new President, Gordon Gilkes, who has taken over from Dallas Williams. Gordon is known for running a large schools program in NSW. Dallas has now moved into the CEO role, with Steve Edwards still offering valuable support as General Secretary and National Registrar. We thank Dallas for all the hard work he has done as the immediate past President. You only have had to have experienced DanceSport Live which Dallas created and has been rolled out internationally, to appreciate the talent and skill he has brought to DanceSport. We also thank Steve for his dedication and hard work as CEO. We are very excited about our new team and the skill set they bring to DanceSport. Read on here Life Membership - Geoff BovardLongest-serving NSW board memberGordon Gilkes, President of DanceSport Australia, presented Geoff Bovard with life membership, at the DSNSW AGM. This was held on Saturday 27 October. The board of DSA agreed unanimously that DSA Member Geoff be granted Life Membership. This is in recognition of over 20 years of meritorious service to DSA as:

The DSV board awarded funding to six highly-ranked Victorian couples assisting them to compete at the East Coast Classic Nationals on 3 and 4 November 2018. We hope to gain funding again for 2019 and assist other couples. LiveLighter WA Open ChampionshipPerth's most prestigious competitive ballroom event - Sat 27 October 2018This event, sponsored by LiveLighter, showcased some of Australia's most exciting and talented DanceSport couples. Included were:
Excellent OrganisationCredit must go to the driving force of Judy Williams and her capable team. The event ran on time. There were a number of interstate competitors, which indicates the stature this Championship holds in the DanceSport world. We recommend all competitors visit Perth and, in fact, all interstate competitions for 2019. Enjoy a weekend away and the delights other cities have to offer. Lock it in your diaries! Para-Dance & All Ability events excitementNew competitors wowed audience at WA OpenAt the recent WA Open on 27 October, Para Dance gave a wonderful demonstration of wheelchair ballroom dancing. The performance was enthusiastically received by the crowd. The Honourable Stephen Dawson, WA Minister, Environment and Disability Services, stayed for two hours chatting with competitors, coaches and volunteers. State Minister considers DSAThe Minister was so excited about DSWA's work he has promised to elevate DanceSport through a consideration of funding.
