What is Para Dance?
Para Dance, formerly known as Wheelchair Dancing, is DanceSport which involves athletes with a physical impairment that affects the lower limbs.
Para Dance events have increasingly been included in Australian DanceSport competitions and are now recognized by DanceSport Australia.
Currently in Australia, participants can compete in Combi events by dancing with an able-bodied partner. Duo (where two wheelchair users dance together) or Individual events not offered, however, as popularity increases these events may be added.
Generally events are offered in a range of age groups in all 3 DanceSport styles i.e. Standard, Latin and New Vogue.
