More than 550 try DanceSport in Victoria's Active April

Campaign success
More than 550 Victorians participated in DanceSport during the Victorian State Government's Active April campaign. This continues to be DanceSport VIC's single most successful publicity campaign and figures are showing that Victoria leads the way in people wanting to take up ballroom dancing.
Incentives
The annual Premier's Active April (PAA) campaign, offers a variety of free activities and prizes to encourage Victorians to be healthier. The Federal Government is also embarking on changing the behaviours of non-active Australians through healthy pathways.
Free marketing support
The Registered Training Facilities (studios) that joined received free high-quality promotional material including advertising through the PAA site. The RTFs were enthusiastic supporters and targeted each of their local areas.
Being a major partner means DanceSport VIC had a higher profile in the campaign. Excited participants turned up to studios and enjoyed five free group lessons during April.
The special DanceSport VIC-funded prizes of dancing shoes and lessons were a hit.
Growth
DanceSport VIC now has 48 RTFs, some having joined this year, which is a great increase on the previous year. This includes our new member, MarShere Dance Studios. Of the 550 PAA participants there have been substantial numbers returning for further lessons.
Geoff Vine, DanceSport Australia Chairman of Marketing and Communication said, "The number of people taking up the offer is a great outcome and shows what can happen when our industry comes together to promote itself."
The overall PAA campaign had 140,000 Victorians register across all activities.
Future
Plans are under way for DanceSport Australia to run the promotion throughout all states on a rotated basis. Active April is one of the many programs DanceSport Australia is undertaking to bring DanceSport to the general public. Please promote Active April 2020 to your friends and family.
