Hobart DanceSport Festival 2019 wrap up
02-06-2019
The Hobart DanceSport Festival had competitors from differing age groups.
Staged at Guildford Young College in Glenorchy, dancers from four years-of-age took to the floor.
The children enjoyed social events, such as, a heel-toe-polka, as well as recreational dances.
Terrific program with plenty of variety
DanceSport Tasmania created children events to encourage grass-roots entry into our world of dance. It was well patronised.
Recreational dancers moving up
It was inspiring to see Recreational division dancers making their debut in the Amateur ranks.
Changing into their first tails and ballroom gowns created an atmosphere of excitement.
For the children there was the chance to meet up with their friends from the north.
The festival staged extra dances in the open-age group as well as team-building experiences through the Studio Teams competition.
The Teams competition always creates excited supportive screaming and cheering.
Novelty events
Also thrown into the mix was a 'Disadvantage' event, which is a novelty event for anyone of any age.
Females stand at one end of the room and males at the other. Numbers were randomly handed out.
Couples were formed when individuals found their matching number - landing them with a dancer of any age.
The couples were then given one song to practise before moving on to the dance floor.
Bean Grinder and Zambreros supplied the fuel
Thanks to Bean Grinder for providing quality coffee and Mexican burritos from Zambreros for wholesome food.
Acknowledging visitors
The dancers visiting from the mainland were made welcome. The Tassie audience admired the Open Amateur dancers and appreciated them travelling to Tassie.
The festival ended at 6pm, with children and adults clutching their prized ribbons. Cuddles were shared while officials debriefed over a meal after their continuous tireless work.
