Funding for Vic Couples at National Championships
DanceSport applied for and received funding from Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) for 2018 for elite athletes. This is to allow Victorian couples to compete at a National Championship.
With this funding, DSV created the DSV Elite Athletes Award. Six highly ranked Victorian couples received the assistance and competed at the East Coast Classic National Championship on 3 and 4 November 2018.
To assess eligibility for funding, DSV monitored and ranked competitors who danced at:
- Crown Championships
- ADS Victorian Championships
- ADS Southern Cross Championships
The successful recipients were:
Under 21
- Samuel Brown and Berkley Wood
Adult
- Timothy Cole and Francesca Vocisano
Masters
- Donald Hew and Lily Burton
- Maurice Vallaro and Lorraine Vallaro
Junior
- Jarraed South and Saffron South
- Aidan Falzon and Ebony Falzon
Future potential awards
If DSV receives the grant in 2019 they will be able to award some more dedicated couples. The following competitions will be evaluated:
- 2018 ADS Australian Dancesport Championships
- 2019 Crown International Championships
- 2019 ADS Victorian Championships
