DSA Rule Change: Lead/Follow and Solo Elevations
Important DSA Rule Change - 10 February 2025
Lead/Follow & Solo Elevation Points
All Age Groups in Under 16 and Amateur Divisions
To assist our dancers in Lead/Follow and Solo events, elevation points will now be awarded when a competitor wins an event competiting against 3 or more competitors.
Note: It is not the number of couples on the dance floor as in the case of combined events; it is the true number of couples in their event as shown in the results.
This rule applies to all age groups in the Under 16 and Amateur Divisions.
This rule is effective immediately.
When do Elevations occur?
To be considered for Elevation a competitor must have reached a minimum of 60 Points.

This is the number of points required for elevating. A Threshold of 60 Points could be reached by the following examples; a competitor could win the Australian Championship, 3 State Opens or Championships, or 6 competitions. Or any other combination that adds up to 60 Points. Points are awarded to the individual, competitors within a partnership may have different Elevation Points.
Elevation Date
This is when the elevation is applied to the competitors record. This occurs on the 1st January each year and gives assurance for competitors and parents as to the Grade they will compete in during the competition year.
Self Elevations
Should the 'Elevation Date' not suit, a competitor has the right to self-elevate.
An application for self elevation can be made to either a State Board or through the Contact Admin Team page.
