2022 AID Rising Star Championship
The Australian Institute of Dancing would like to welcome you to the 61st Rising Star Championships.
Sunday 13 November, 2022 - Doors open 8am, First event 9am

The Rising Star Championship is one of the longest continuously running events in Australia, operating uninterrupted for the past 60 years, even through a pandemic. It is an event steeped with history, not only having a proud tradition as a home of excellent dancing, but by its very name, an event that promotes up and coming Champions, or ‘Rising Stars’.
New Recreational and Under 16 Rising Star Events
It is with this history in mind that we are very proud to present to you a new event in DSA competitions, ‘Recreational and U16 Rising Star’.
These events feature Recreational and U16 competitors being judged individually, able to be partnered by any DSA member (Recreational, Amateur, Professional), either accredited or unaccredited. Competitors in these events are restricted to DSA Approved Syllabus and Recreational Costuming Rules.
And as a further means to help develop up and coming competitive dancers we are also happy to announce that we have worked with DSA to offer free DSA registration for all Recreational and U16 who are not yet registered with DSA competing at the Rising Star. All dancers need to do to obtain a DSA membership is to send an email to info@dancesport.org.au
These events are offered in addition to the usual compliment of amateur couples, recreational couples, coach/student, special dance and paradance events.
