2021 ADS 75th Australian Championship - Date Change
Media Release - Austalian Dancing Society - 7/10/21
The Directors of the Australian Dancing Society were hopeful that we could present the 75th Australian Dancesport Championship in Melbourne, in December 2021. The decision to go ahead was certainly not taken lightly and we were well aware that it would still have it’s challenges if it were indeed able to take place!
Unfortunately it now seems that those challenges are proving too difficult and it has (after consultations with all of our stakeholders and taking into consideration the concerns of the industry as a whole) now been decided that the 75th Australian Dancing Championship will be postponed to a new date early in 2022! This new timeframe will hopefully allow for all States to reach their double vaccination rates and help us deliver not only a wonderful event that we can all enjoy, but a safer one!
We are sure you understand that our Championship has received funding from the Victorian Government for many years now, which we as a Society (and I’m sure you as competitors) are grateful for. This funding has afforded us the ability to deliver a Championship event worthy of it’s Australian Championship title in some of Victoria’s landmark venues, and it is certainly a relationship we will continue to foster in the forthcoming years!
The decision had been made to move our 2021 event to a more affordable (and less restrictive) venue and we plan to continue through with this decision and can now announce that the “Bendigo Stadium” will be the home of the 75th Australian Dancesport Championship! The venue is widely used for concerts and has the ability to provide a very similar type venue including staging etc, similar sized floor etc and we are very excited for this one off event!
We look forward to announcing the date as soon as possible and more information on Bendigo and the Bendigo Stadium and welcoming all dancers and supporters to the 75th Australian Dancesport Championship!
