Impact of Recreation Division

The most important impact that Recreational has for Competition Organisers is that Recreational is a separate Division to Amateur. Competitors in the Recreational Division cannot compete in the Amateur Division.

Costume Change Times

Having distinct costume requirements for each Division will negate the need for scheduling 'Change Time'. Previously when Competition Organisers allowed Level 1 Competitors to 'Dance Up', time had to be factored in to allow for these changes.

Having a separate division allows Organisers to have greater freedom with scheduling Running Orders.

The 'One Dance' Issue

In the past many Competition Organisers considered that Level 1 Competitors were not encouraged to attend competitions because a Level 1 Event could only have a single dance.

This situation was often addressed by the Organiser running two separate Level 1 Events. Apart from the ethical consideration of Elevation Points (i.e. is by running two separate Level 1 Events you are providing double the Elevation Points of other Levels at the same competition) the Organiser must then supply double the awards/trophies etc. and double the Presentation time.

Of course in other cases Organisers allowed Level 1 competitors to 'Dance Up', which of course leads to the 'Costume Change Time' issue previously mentioned.

The Recreational Division addresses this problem directly by not specifying the quantity of dances required. Competition Organisers are free to set the dances that they feel will be suitable for their competition.
