DanceSport Australia Ltd is run by a Board of Directors. Members elect Directors at the Annual General Meeting, which is held online – there is no separate online election beforehand, and candidates no longer stand in categories.
Who can vote
Every person aged 16 or over who is registered with DanceSport Australia is a Member. A Member may vote at a General Meeting once they have been a Member for at least 12 months. cl 5.5(e)
Each voting Member has one vote. cl 11.1
How the election works
If there are no more nominees than positions to fill, no vote is needed – the nominees are elected unopposed. A tie for the last position is decided by the CEO drawing a name by lot. cl 11.2(b)
New Directors take office at the end of the meeting at which they are elected. cl 13.7(b)
Voting at the AGM
The AGM notice tells every Member the date, how to join the online meeting, and who has been nominated. During the meeting, eligible Members vote on screen through their DanceSport Australia account.
Can't attend? Appoint another Member as your proxy, online from your Member Home, while proxy appointments are open. You can give them full control of your vote, or decide your votes yourself in advance.

When nominations are called, a nomination must be on the form provided by the Board and signed by both the nominator and the nominee. cl 13.4(c) Send it, with a photo and a short profile, to the General Secretary at gensec@dancesport.org.au.
The Nominations Committee – an independent chair, a Member representative and a Director – assesses every nominee using a skills and diversity matrix. It may, unanimously, find a nomination unsuitable. The Board and the Committee aim for gender balance on the Board. cl 13.2(e), 13.3
