Every advertiser is a DanceSport Australia Member and must follow the Member Protection Policy and Code of Conduct. Even so, take the same care you would with anyone you have not met.
Getting to know a possible partner
- Keep it to email at first. Share your phone number or social media only when you are comfortable.
- Try out at a studio or practice session, with a coach or others around – not at a private home.
- Tell someone where you are going and who you are meeting.
- Talk to your coach. They can often help arrange a try-out and may know the dancer.
Protect your details
- Never put your home address, phone number or date of birth in an advert or a first message.
- No one connected with the service will ask you for a password, payment or bank details.
Junior dancers (under 18). You must be 18 or over to place an advert. A junior's advert is placed by a parent or guardian from their own DanceSport Australia account, and the parent or guardian receives and answers every message. Try-outs for juniors are always arranged through parents and coaches.
Reporting a problem
If an advert or a message is inappropriate, offensive or makes you uncomfortable, tell the DanceSport Admin Team with the Contact Form. Include the advert title and, for a message, the date it arrived. Do not reply to it.
Inappropriate and offensive messages may be reported to the relevant authority, and abuse of the service can lead to a Member's account being suspended.
