2021 Tasmanian Open CANCELLED
It’s with great sadness that we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to cancel the Tasmanian Open DanceSport Championship for the 2nd year in a row.
While we had already achieved record numbers of entrants from all over Australia and our audience was lining up to be a full house, the recent extension of lockdown for Victoria, in addition to the unknown for NSW means we’re unable to confidently deliver a championship to the standard that we know you have all come to expect.
These restrictions also make it challenging for our esteemed adjudicators and officials to travel to Tasmania too. Unlike major sports, we can't create a travel bubble or quarantine everyone. Our event is a sum of many people, and sadly too many would be missing.
We’d like to thank our sponsors and suppliers who have stood by us in 2020 and again in 2021 - they work so hard to play their part in delivering the Tasmanian Open and we honestly couldn’t do it without their unwavering commitment and belief.
We are so grateful to our entrants, ticket holders, sponsors and officials who have prepared for this year's event. To our dancers, we know how much you want to be back on the floor.
Our next steps:
Ticket holders - your ticket purchase will be refunded by Ticketek and you will receive an email shortly.
VIP Tables - your refunds will be provided directly over the next 7 days.
Dancers - Dancesport Tasmania will refund your entry fees in the next 14 days.
Cancelling the event now will ensure we can still return in 2022. Once again it will be our tenth celebration - we very much hope this will be a case of “third time lucky!”
