National Council Election notice for 2019

In accordance with the Constitution of Dancesport Australia, the National Council Election - 2019 will be carried out by a ballot of eligible DSA members.


Nominations - Eligibility

Current serving members of State Branch Boards, a National Councillor, or those persons who have served a minimum of two (2) years on a Branch Board or National Council are eligible to nominate for election to the National Council. Nominees for representative candidates in the coach and competitor categories must be registered at the time of nomination in the same registration category (coach or competitor) in which they nominate. Any financial Ordinary Member or Life Member may nominate as a representative candidate in the general member category.


Nominations for election close on July 31st, 2019.


Provisional Timeline

Nominations received will be acknowledged.


The Election

National Councillors will be elected for a two-year term of office. The Council will consist of: -

                  2   Coach Representatives - elected by the registered coaches

                  2   Competitor Representatives - elected by the registered competitors

                  6   General Member Representatives - elected by the members of DSA

In addition, there is the provision for up to a further 6 councillors to be appointed by National Council.



Voting information and copies of candidates’ profiles / election statements will be made available to all members in accordance with the registration categories. Members will be required to lodge their votes with an independent Returning Officer appointed by DSA. It is expected that the result of the election will be announced in mid to late September.
