2019 Queensland Open
With the 2018 Commonwealth Games out of the way all eyes were on "QNDC" Queensland National Dancesport Championshp 2019, to be a success, and it did not disappoint.
RACV Royal Pines, Queensland once again was the venue of choice. Our Dance stage was set.
The ballroom was set up spectacularly. A huge thanks to Anthony and his team for the lighting at the RACV, encompassed with Riana and Kevin Morellini Music the competition was a true Dancesport Championship event in all sense of the words. Entries came in from all over Australia and abroad, it was so fantastic to see such a distinguished adjudicating panel from all parts of Australia and New Zealand.
The weekend commenced on Good Friday with a fantastic initiative from Dancesport Queensland and the Queensland Government with the Recreational Development Competition which saw dancers of all ages young and old take to the floor under a themed day of "Cosplay". Our young competitors dressed up in a costume of their choice, from super heroes to Mary Poppins which made for a fun filled day of dance.
With an increase in ProAm and Teacher Student entries, Saturday's stage was set for a full day of single dance events and Championship 5 dance events as well as some of the graded events. Saturday also saw the annual Queensland Closed Open events which were hotly contested by all competitors participating.
The weekend was completed on Easter Sunday with all Amateur and Professional events over the three styles with top couples from all over the country it definitely made for a strong competition and definitely one to add to your calendar for the 2020 competition season.
