DanceSport Australia is seeking an exceptional finance professional to serve as the voluntary Independent Chair of our Finance, Audit and Risk (FAR) Committee — a key governance role supporting the Board of Australia's national governing body for DanceSport.
About DanceSport Australia
DanceSport Australia Ltd DSA) is the National Sporting Organisation and governing body for DanceSport in Australia, uniting and championing the sport from grassroots participation to world-class performance. We are currently implementing additional governance in line with Australian Sports Commission requirements. The FAR Committee sits at the heart of this strengthened governance structure.
The Opportunity
As Independent Chair, you will lead a small expert committee providing independent oversight and advice to the Board on:
- Financial management, reporting and budgetary oversight
- External audit and auditor independence
- Risk management, internal controls and compliance
- Legal and regulatory obligations
The Committee meets quarterly (plus additional meetings as required). The Chair reports directly to the full Board at each Board meeting. Meetings are held virtually.
Who We Are Looking For
You are a senior Australian finance or accounting professional with the independence, expertise, and commitment to chair an effective committee. You bring:
- Strong experience as a Chair or member audit, finance & risk board committees
- CPA or CA qualification with current membership
- Substantial experience in financial management, financial reporting or audit oversight
- Sound understanding of risk management frameworks and internal controls
- Excellent communication, facilitation and leadership skills
Experience with sporting organisations, peak bodies or not-for-profit entities would be highly regarded but is not essential. Independent means not a current or past Director, Officer or Employee of DSA.
