7.1 The following rules must be adhered to. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

• (a) Adjudication begins when the competitor(s) adopt their dance position and ends when the music stops.
• (b) Standard dances must be danced in closed hold (with the exception of Powerchair events — see Rule 6.16).
• (c) In Combi events the standing dancer must not start or stop the wheelchair with their legs or feet.
• (d) Competitors must not dance against the line of dance.
• (e) High-back kicks, laying or sitting on the floor, and uncontrolled speed are prohibited in conventional events.
• (f) Lifts are not permitted in conventional events.
• (g) Three (3) lifts are permitted in Freestyle events.
